Bicycle Ride of Silence Honors Those Injured and Killed While Cycling on Public Roads

Ride of Silence

On May 15, 2013, bicyclists from around the world will participate in the Ride of Silence. The Ride of Silence is a slow-paced ride, which begins in numerous locations around the globe. All cyclists are welcome to join the rides and are asked to wear a helmet, ride no faster than 12 mph, and remain silent on the ride, to honor those injured or killed while riding a bicycle on public roadways.

Michigan locations for the Ride of Silence include:

  • Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti – meet at Recreation Park, 1001 North Congress Street, Ypsilanti, Michigan
  • Detroit/Grosse Pointe – meet at American Cycle and Fitness, 20343 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan
  • Grand Rapids – meet at Riverside Park, 2001 Monroe Avenue, N.W., Grand Rapids, Michigan
  • Lansing/East Lansing – meet at Wells Hall, 619 Red Cedar Road, Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan
  • Oakland County/Rochester Hills – meet at Bloomer Park Velodrome, 345 John R Road, Rochester Hills, Michigan
  • Port Huron – meet at Lakeside Beach Parking Lot, on Gratiot Avenue, north of Holland Avenue, Port Huron, Michigan
  • Traverse City – meet at the corner of Woodmere and 8th Street, Traverse City, Michigan
